As the weather continues to warm up and summer fast approaches, it’s the ideal time to head to one of the various area farmers markets to take in the fresh air, shop local goods, and support area farmers and businesses. As farmers market season is upon us, make sure to get outdoors to take advantage of all the wonderful offerings provided by area farmers, growers and bakers, as well as local artisans offering their craft goods. There’s a plethora of goods to choose from … what are you waiting for?

One market experience not to miss is the Proctor Farmers Market (ProctorFarmersMarket.com), which can be found at North 27th and Proctor Street in Tacoma’s Historic Proctor District Saturdays from 9am to 2pm. Here you can check off most everything on your shopping list—all at one location! And ... music at the market is back!

Open 10am to 3pm Thursday through Sunday, you can find the Olympia Farmers Market (OlympiaFarmersMarket.com) at 700 Capitol Way North. For those 55 and older, Thursday is Senior Day at the market, offering special discounts. In addition to the shopping, you can enjoy live entertainment each day.

The Puyallup Farmers Market (PuyallupMainStreet.com/puyallup-farmers-market) is one of the largest markets in the South Puget Sound region. Their 2022 market season kicked off in April and continues 9am to 2pm every Saturday through October 8 at 330 South Meridian.

Tacoma Farmers Markets (TacomaFarmersMarket.com) offers four markets for your shopping needs: Eastside, Broadway, Point Ruston, and their Fresh Express Mobile Market. Eastside Market is held at Eastside Community Center (1721 East 56th Street) 3 to 7pm on Tuesdays beginning June 2 and continues through August 30. While at the market, you can also enjoy weekly music, kids’ activities, cooking demos, and so much more. The Broadway Market is celebrating its 32nd year! This downtown marketplace is a gathering space where you’ll find more than 70 vendors paired with live music. Stop by 925 Broadway 10am to 2pm Thursdays, May 5 through October 27. Located at the heart of the Grand Plaza, 5101 Grand Loop Road, the Point Ruston Market offers a beautiful setting for your farmers market experience. Bring the family to enjoy all Point Ruston has to offer. Market hours are 11am to 4pm Sundays, June 5 through September 4. The Fresh Express Mobile Market is a year-round mobile market that offers a full range of fresh and local products to neighborhoods across Pierce County. You can find a list of Mobile Market stops at the Tacoma Farmers Market website, listed above.

There’s nothing like buying the freshest in fruits and vegetables, knowing that they were grown with a love and passion to share with the community.
